The Steiner family has fundraised for Mary’s Meals for a few years now. Their most recent endeavors raised enough to feed 167 chidlren, and when you add in the matching funds that were donated from other generous donors, 420 children will now be fed for an entire school year because of their efforts.
In addition to their ongoing bottle collections and collecting of loose change, one of their daughters raised a calf last summer and donated $500 from the sale to Mary’s Meals.
Last fall, as a family and with some friends, the family continued their efforts to feed children by doing “odd jobs for Mary’s Meals” in exchange for donations. They have fed and looked after animals, helped an elderly lady with splitting and stacking her load of firewood, built a Christmas Nativity scene, and cleaned a church in preparation for Christmas.
Later on, other odd jobs included assembling a dog house and shoveling snow.
Thank you to the Steiner family for your little acts of love – so many of them – that are making such a difference to so many children. And thank you for your fine examples that remind us how each one of us can find ways to share with those who lack even the most basic things.
I know now that these little acts of love – your little acts of love – are not little at all. They are making the lives of countless children and families so much better.
