Grandview Kids’ Historic Leap Forward in Paediatric Excellence

We all have powerful stories to tell, and Grandview Kids is no exception. Our journey began in 1953 when a group of parents in the Durham Region came together to create more support and services for their children. We are an independently operated, not-for-profit organization that helps children and youth to live life at their full potential. Moreover, we are the only Children’s Treatment Centre in Durham Region, providing specialized programs, outpatient clinical treatment and support to thousands of children and youth with physical, communication and developmental needs and their families.

Over the years, the demand for Grandview’s services have grown from 400 kids annually in the ‘80s to the current demand exceeding 19,000 children and youth. To answer that need in our community, the Grandview Kids Foundation has embarked on a monumental journey with our Believe Campaign to raise $20 million that will make the dreams of a new Grandview facility a reality. Funds raised will complement support from Federal, Provincial and Regional partners.

Donors like you have helped to raise an impressive $17 million through the Believe Campaign, but we need to raise an additional $3 million to help build and support the new Grandview. And we could really use your help!

This next chapter in our story is historical. The new Grandview Kids headquarters will support the seamless and coordinated provision of family-centred care. Our new location will be a spacious, multi-story facility located in Ajax on five acres of beautiful land that has been generously donated by the Town of Ajax. This fully accessible building—named the Jerry Coughlan Building after Jerry’s generous donation—will allow us to expand and enhance our existing services and introduce new ones.

The vision for the new Grandview Kids is to support the seamless and coordinated provision of family-centred care for children and youth with physical, communication and developmental needs and their families. It will be an open, welcoming, and inclusive community-based paediatric facility, supporting an integrated mix of specialized rehabilitation, medical and clinical services, and education and research activities.
