With affordable prosthetic care, Limbs for Life gives amputees their lives back.
The overwhelming cost of a prosthesis can run close to $100,000 — which means that some amputees who are uninsured or underinsured will choose between a functional limb and their own financial survival.
At Limbs for Life, we help amputees regain their lives with prosthetic devices at no charge. We also provide parts and components in both the United States and around the world. Together with our clinic and donor partners, we make sure that people without resources can regain the freedom of mobility they deserve.
Lexie
Lexie is an adventurous spirit from Boulder, Colorado whose life changed after a 2015 snowboarding accident led to the eventual amputation of both legs. Despite over 30 surgeries, she remains upbeat and resilient, with boundless energy. Once a model featured in major fashion shows, Lexie was working with two ill-fitting, broken prostheses held together with glue and duct tape when she was introduced to Limbs for Life. “I am forever grateful to Limbs for Life,” she says.
Kynnli
Kynnli was born with fibular hemimelia, a rare birth disorder that affects 1 in 40,000 births. At 8 months old, her leg was amputated. With the help of a running leg from Limbs for Life, just a few years later, Kynnli was competing in track and field. Now entering her teens, she plays basketball, runs, and lives the never-boring life of a teenage girl. “Kynnli knows there isn’t anything she can’t do, and she will never be limited by wearing a prosthesis,” says her mom. “Due to the generosity of Limbs for Life, Kynnli enjoys the freedom she deserves.”
Richard
When Richard was on the way to work, his car stalled out on the side of the highway, so he called his father for help. While the two men worked on the car, a distracted driver struck them both: his father was killed instantly, and Richard lost his leg in the crash. With his fiancée (now wife) by his side through recovery, Richard was provided with the advanced prosthesis he needed to get his life back on track — all thanks to the donors of Limbs for Life.
