Discover Our Nature: How Logan Lake Turned Recovery into Recreation

In August 2021, the Tremont Creek wildfire forced the evacuation of Logan Lake and changed this small B.C. community in an instant. Trails were damaged, the surrounding landscape was scarred, and residents faced an uncertain return. But what followed was not only recovery. It was a renewed commitment to the natural setting and outdoor lifestyle that have long shaped Logan Lake.

That is what makes the community’s tagline, Discover Our Nature, feel so fitting today. For visitors, it is an invitation to experience a place where renewal can be seen not only in the landscape, but in the recreation opportunities that continue to grow around it.

GROWTH ROOTED IN THE OUTDOORS

One of the clearest signs of that growth is the expansion of the Logan Lake Campground. Increasing from 51 to 70 sites, the project reflects both strong demand and a broader vision for outdoor tourism in the community. Set beside the lake and close to local trails and amenities, the campground gives visitors an easy way to settle in and experience Logan Lake at a slower pace.

That same momentum is visible across the community’s trail network. In the years following the wildfire, Logan Lake has continued investing in outdoor recreation, including a mountain bike trail system supported by nearly $1 million in funding through the Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements (DFAA) program. The new trails build on a landscape already used for hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing, giving visitors more ways to explore the area while also reflecting the work that has gone into recovery.

Disc golf is another example of how Logan Lake has grown through recreation. With the addition of a third course in the municipality, the community has strengthened its appeal as a destination for players looking for variety, scenery, and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere.

Together, the campground expansion, trail development, and disc golf growth tell a clear story: Logan Lake has responded to hardship by investing in the experiences that matter most to community life.

A PLACE TO STAY AND EXPLORE

For travellers, that means there is even more to enjoy. Visitors can ride or hike the trails, play a round at Meadow Creek Golf Course, or cast a line in Logan Lake, known for productive rainbow trout fishing and easy in-town access. These experiences add depth to a destination already defined by its setting.

What makes Logan Lake stand out is not only the range of outdoor experiences but the sense of purpose behind them. This is a community that has come through hardship by investing in the landscape, recreation, and community life that have long shaped Logan Lake. For visitors, it all adds up to a destination where outdoor adventure, recovery, and community spirit are closely woven together.
